Window Restoration London – Regents Park

In this window restoration London case study Company J contacted us as they were working on a Crown property in Regent’s Park. They required a company who were knowledgeable in listed properties. They needed a highly skilled team of sub-contractors that could renovate the windows back to their original glory.

There are a limited amount of companies that deal with listed properties and therefore they asked us to assist with the works. As it was a listed and Crown property there were security issues involving the windows which meant that they could not be taken off site. So all the work we did had to be done on site in the property. There were also limitations to the windows as there was only certain paint that we were allowed to use. We had previously worked on similar properties before so these were not big problems. The company wanted all the windows to be restored to how they previously would have looked. They also instructed us to draught seal the windows as they needed to increase the heat efficiency of the home.

Solution:

Normally we take the sashes off site, to be worked on in the workshop, as there is more room and its easier to allow time to dry. But with this being a high secure project on a Crown property we created a workshop on site. This meant that we could do it all on site without having to move anything out. Luckily the home was big enough to allow this to go ahead smoothly. We did all our renovation on site. This included doing all the repairs and decoration of the frames and sashes. It was all hand painted using special custom paint that was suitable for the property. The sashes were re-weighed and re-corded also, allowing them to open with ease. When fitting the sashes back into their frames we draught proofed them to help keep the heat in.

Outcome:

Company J were very pleased with all the work done on the properties windows. We managed to do all the work on site and renovated and decorated the windows back to their formal glory. They were relieved that they found a company knowledgeable in the type of crown property and could do all the renovation carefully and skilfully. As the windows have been draught proofed it was keeping the interior a lot warmer. All in all a good result.
