Window Restoration London – Wimbledon

In this window restoration London case study Mrs. N phoned us regarding the glass in her sash windows. She was looking to get all the panes replaced for her Wimbledon home. She had also contacted a builder to get a quote for the glass to be replaced and the sash windows re-painted. We visited her and were more than capable of fitting new glass. We also offered her our decoration services.

Case Study Details

The client wanted the glass in the windows replaced and the windows and frames re-decorated. When our surveyor visited her at home she mentioned about her small children and how she was concerned about them regarding the windows. The windows were very low down so her main worry was that they would break the bottom panes when playing and get hurt or try and get out. Mrs N found our prices to be very competitive. We did quote her more than her builder, but she was convinced we will do the better job as we specialised in sash window restoration and glass replacement.

Solution:

During the restoration process we extracted the original windows and took them off site to be restored. Once the sashes were extracted, we temporarily fitted a bespoke made window so that her home was secure while we were working on her windows.

The rotten sills were restored where possible. In some areas where it was exceptionally bad they had to be replaced. The old and new wood was moulded together with our repair care system. This was all done on site and was then fully decorated.

They sashes were fully stripped and hand painted to the customer’s colour choice in our workshop. We installed security glass into all the sashes and puttied this in with the repair care dry seal system. The sash windows were then brought back on site and fitted. We draught sealed the windows to keep the house warm and cosy.

To make the windows more child friendly we added limiters so the children could not fully open them. The restrictors meant that they could not be opened more than 10cm. The security glass ensured that the children could not fall through the windows. This also made her home more secure.

Outcome:

Mrs. N was very happy with the outcome of her windows. They were looking as good as new as the glass was replaced and the windows fully decorated. She had more peace of mind now knowing that when her children were playing they could not break the glass or try to climb out.
