Sash window restoration Peckham

In this sash window restoration Peckham case study we discuss a project we completed on behalf of our customer in Peckham.

Problem

The customer had just purchased a grade 2 listed property in Peckham. Most of the original windows were still in the house, but they were ill-fitting and were over-painted. The customer wanted the house to look original, but without the issues usually experienced with original windows.

Solution

We removed all the original sashes from their frames. The frames were repaired and painted. The sashes were taken to our workshop. In the workshop we stripped the sashes to bare timber, repaired or replaced rotten areas, and then fully painted the sashes with the Dulux weather shield system.

We then returned to the home and installed all the windows. Before finishing the windows we ensured that all the sashes were re-weighted and re-corded. This meant that the windows functioned properly and were fully draught proofed.

Outcome

The customer was delighted with her “new” windows. The windows functioned properly and were much more heat efficient. The fittings now fitted well into the original frames and were no longer over-painted.
