It is a well-known area to do with its trams but Croydon has been at the forefront of transport for quite some time. One of the first airports to fly commercially was in Croydon and it was also the first in the world to introduce air traffic control. The first public railway in the world was opened in Croydon and took people across to Wandsworth.

The tallest building in Croydon is ‘Altitude 25’. It is a 94m high building that was built in 2009 and is made up of residential flats. This formed part of the scheme in Croydon to generate new buildings.
