It is 3.21 hectares large and is named after Lord Cottenham. Originally an estate it had been sold for houses but by 1893 the area was still mainly untouched. Once trams were around and in the area the development started up again. In 1987 a recreation ground was opened and it has stayed this way since then. There are tennis courts, trees, a pavilion and playing fields.
