After the Hammersmith Bridge was opened in 1827, Castelnau was established. It became a selected conservation area in 1977. There are many beautifully designed buildings in this area, one of which is the Holy Trinity Barnes. It was built in 1868 and the architect, Thomas Allom, also worked as architect on the houses of parliament.
